The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides financial assistance to older persons through the SASSA Older Persons Grant. This grant is designed to help older South Africans who are financially vulnerable and in need of support to cover basic living expenses.

The grant is intended for those who are over the age of 60 and have a low income, and it is intended to provide a safety net for those who may not have access to other forms of social assistance.

Just like the child support grant, the older persons grant is paid out monthly and can be used to cover expenses such as food, housing, and medical care. Applying for the grant is a straightforward process, and those who are eligible can expect to receive the grant as soon as their application is approved.
