#PayTheGrants coordinator, Elizabeth Raiters raised her concerns on eNCA news on the 12th of August stating that some of the clients who were approved for the previous year have not received any payment, and some beneficiaries have not received any grant for the past 3 months.

The organisation is now calling for a universal basic income grant amounting to R1 500 for people aged 18 – 59. The reason for this suggestion is that the cost of living is very high, caregivers are struggling to make ends meet and the ridiculous inflation is hard to keep up with hence they suggest the universal basic income grant.

#PayTheGrant believes that the SASSA systems are flawed as more people who are well deserving of the grant are declined.

They demand that SASSA pays up the R350 SRD grant as soon as possible.

When to Expect your SASSA R350 SRD Grant

If you are one of the beneficiary’s awaiting your R350 grant payment, you do not have to worry as SASSA is still processing the outstanding payments. They have been having a backlog which might be the cause of the delayed payments.

The SASSA R350 Grant Payment Date for August 2022 was not indicated but, approved beneficiaries are told to be expectant as their payment will be released and they will be notified.

SASSA Warns Against R350 Grant Fake News

SASSA maintains that the SRD grant is set at R350 each month for qualifying applicants and will remain till the end of this grant cycle. They have warned beneficiaries against the fake news around the grant amount increased to R550 or R700.

SASSA has also been receiving a high volume of calls from distraught clients who were scammed by someone who claimed to be a SASSA official. This person has been requesting their login details and then changed their cell phone numbers and banking details of the unsuspecting clients to his details.

Clients are urged to be vigilant and not share their personal details with anyone. SASSA will never ask a client for login details, especially on social media.
