Beneficiaries can put their worries to rest because according to Letsatsi’s interview with Jacaranda FM, there is continuous discussion between the Post Office and SASSA about how to implement their backup plan.
The COO of SASSA and the Post Office have a meeting planned to resolve any remaining concerns. Letsatsi made it clear that recipients will not have to fret as their grants will be given on schedule and effortlessly.
Later in the week, the statement will be released by the Post Office, which is functioning without issue. Communications Minister Mondli Gungubele expressed serious concerns following the provisional liquidation of SAPO. He urged the board and management to provide a thorough report detailing how the situation unfolded, what steps have been taken to correct it, and how they plan to promptly resolve it.
Gungubele emphasized the significance of SAPO as a vital government service platform for millions of citizens and the detrimental implications the cessation of operations would bring. He stressed the urgency for SAPO to transform into a self-sustained and lucrative business entity that would benefit the citizens.
To guarantee the steady delivery of social services, punctual grant disbursement, an effective staff, and agreeable discussions with SAPO’s debt collectors for a favourable settlement, the minister confirmed the public that measures will be put in place.
