When will the SRD R350 Grant End?

The grant was meant to come to an end in March 2023 but, after careful consideration, the Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana announced in his presentation of the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement in Parliament. that the R350 grant will be extended for another year till March 2024.Previous beneficiaries had to re-apply for the grant and other people who do qualify for the grant were encouraged to apply. The new phase which opened for application on the 23rd of April 2022 came with new regulations. This was because the SRD R350 grant was moved from operating under the State of Disaster Act to Social Assistance Act.But after SASSA saw a decreased number of approved applicants, the agency decided to amend the regulation and change the qualifying means test from the R350 household threshold to R624.This means that people that receive not more than R624 in their bank account in a month do qualify to receive the R350 grant for that particular month. As of August 2022, SASSA has received just under 12 million applications and they believe that with the new regulation, more people will be approved for the R350 grant.
